April 2025 meeting

We had a Peeping Tom tonight waving at us.

Eleven fools showed up for our April 1st meeting, which is a very respectable turnout for the first of ANY month! I was looking for something special to call ‘Eleven’, like a ‘Baker’s Dozen’ is 13. Turns out 11 is just 11; I was hoping for something more colorful.

I just washed this hand and can’t do a thing with it!

Sulaiman and Jill Zai came up from Parker. Always a pleasure when they can make the trip up to join us. They play so good it would put us all to shame, if we HAD any shame, that is. Also, we hadn’t seen Gary Krause in awhile; always nice to have him join us with that tiny little guitar (ukelele) that he left too long in the dryer. To my credit, I think that’s only the fourteenth time I’ve used that joke.

Shoulda saved this one for July, huh?

Rich broke a string tuning DOWN, no foolin’. Then, not to be outdone, Matt tuned his 12 string UP to see if he could match the result. No broken strings, no cigar; but he did manage to get it tuned before the 2 hours was up. For a twelve string, that may be a world record.

Ken had some names for his songs tonight! I think he got help from his little Band in a Tube.

We enjoyed some nice original songs by Sulaiman, Jill, and Ken. Roger led the group song ‘Rollin’ In My Sweet Baby’s Arms’. Steve and Martin left for Ireland the following day, perhaps Thursday. My guess is they are back and sleeping it off right about now. They tend to play ’til midnight, then the locals break out their instruments and they continue into the wee hours.
